Going for sushi tonight. Can't decide where to go.....never been to either. Anyone been to either one and was it good? Any reviews?

Re: Nishiki (selden) or kumo (stonybrook)
I've been to Kumo and its sister restaurant Hotoke in Smithtown and both are AMAZING!!!!!! I won't go to Nishiki because my friend had a problem there. They (she and her dh) went on a weeknight with a gift card. There were plenty of tables available. When they asked to be seated the host refused to seat them because they did not have a reservation. The host basically told them they could go outside, call and make a reservation and be seated. So they left. I want no part of that place after hearing about their policy. So if you do go, make a reservation. And if you go to Kumo and you like mango, I highly recommend the mango margarita!!

Ive been to Nishiki in Selden (with a group for a birthday, so we had a reservation) and the food was great. I would definitely go back.

My friends raved about Nishiki, but we just ordered from Kumo a few nights ago at work and I was very unimpressed with the sushi rolls I got

We are HUGE fans of Nishiki. We have eaten there many times and have brought many of our friends and family there which they all continue to rave and eat there.
FYI they do not take walk ins on the weekends.

Re: Nishiki (selden) or kumo (stonybrook)
So we went to Nishiki tonight ( without a reservation ) we were seated immediately and the food was insanely delicious!!! I think the reservation issue is more for the hibachi area, but we were going strictly for sushi. We sat in the dining room. Outstanding!!!

I've been to both, for sushi DH & I prefer Kumo plus Monday-Friday they have happy hour from 4-7 and sushi is either $4 or $7!! Nishiki is good too but overall the sushi is better at Kumo IMO. Although the Yummy Roll from Nishiki is just heavenly.

Personally, if you don't get Hibachi, Kotobuki in Hauppauge blows any place away. However, good to know your review, maybe I'll try Nishiki.
