Nissan Xterra Owners . . .
Can you just share your opinions. I have a year to go, but really want to hear about the Xterra, since it is one of the vehicles I am interested in . . .

Re: Nissan Xterra Owners . . .
its ok. im not crazy about mine. there are alot better looking SUVs out there in that price range. unless you actually plan to go off roading, i would look at something else. gas mileage SUCKS.
one good thing is that the backseat is higher than the front, so people in the back like the view. and teh bottom of the backseats come completely off, so if you need to lay the backseat down, it goes very flat and you can fit a lot of stuff back there
you want a used 04???

I have an 02 and I still like it. I haven't had any maintenance issues, and I actually find that compared to other SUV's I get quite good gas mileage. (My mom has a Grand Cherokee and we drive about the same mileage per week - she has to fill up quicker than I do for example). I'm happy with my XTerra

I have an 07 and I LOVE it - w/2 dogs and a baby it was the ideal rugged style we needed w/plenty of room. The backseats fold down or come out, it really is spacious. It's the first SUV I've owned so was surprised by the handling around turns but am told that is normal.

Re: Nissan Xterra Owners . . .
I don't have an Xterra, but my SIL & BIL do and I have driven it and been a passenger many times. I don't like the way it drives, at all. It drives more like a truck then any other SUV I have been in (and I have been in small, medium and large). It is a very bumpy ride and totally uncomfortable. I also think getting in and out of the backseat is awkward and not easy because the wheel base cuts into the seat.

ITA. I also have an 02, so maybe there's a difference depending on the year. We really love ours, no complaints.

Re: Nissan Xterra Owners . . .
I would never get one- my husband friend had one- and they got hit on the passenger side door- rolled twice
if they both weren't 260 + pounds- they would be dead
mainly b/c of the height and the narrowness- I didn't believe him- until I parked behind one- he had me try to rock my SUV and then the Xterra- the Xterra really moved and mine really didn't

Re: Nissan Xterra Owners . . .
We have an '05 and will be trading it in once we figure out what we want next
I HATE that it is a hig-turnover vehicle especially with a baby now. While I am 6ft and have no problem climbing into the high backseat - anyone slighty shorter has a real PITA time getting in the back
The cargo area is spacious and more so when the seats are down but it's not enough for me to want to keep it - other cars have that feature where I'll feel much safer
And the gas is a b!itch
