Re: NJ car insurance

mine is a cheaper but that is only because we have New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance. I don't know all of the in's and out's but it is really difficult to get. You have to work for a company that is recognized by them. Then you need an impeccable driving record. Plus each year you get a check back from them for dividends. I also have my homeowners and flood insurance through them as well.

Re: NJ car insurance

Unless some of the insurance regulations have changed, NJ's car insurance is more expensive. When I moved to NJ 9 years ago, my insurance rates went up.

yes, good point. When I moved to queens I kept my parents LI address because the difference in rates was unbelievable.

Re: NJ car insurance

We moved from Staten Island to New Jersey when we got married and the insurance went down. But I am not sure how much was because of th state or the fact that we got married.

I have NJ Manufacturers too- they really are the best. But I do think that they have two versions- NJ Manufacturers and then NJ Re- the latter being for those that do not work for a recognized NJ manufacturing company. They both have very good rates.

We are actually very sad to leave them b/c we're moving back to LI and can't take them with us..

edited to say- that our new policy on LI is only slightly more expensive and actually has more coverage.

I will send you what we pay for 3 cars through Liberty Mutual. We did get a discount for using them for home owners too.
I think it is about the same maybe a few dollars more moving from Nassau to NJ.

Good point, we moved from Queens to NJ and like I said earlier, the rate went down slightly... I was just honestly happy that they didn't go up!!!

Re: NJ car insurance

It was a little more expensive for me but, I moved from Suffolk to Hudson County which has a high rate of auto theft.

I started with Cure and then switched to Geico when they came to NJ (there rates were substantially lower).

Re: NJ car insurance

DH and I moved to NJ shortly after we were married. I lived in Nassau prior and DH lived on Staten Island. Our insurance went down. Slightly for me, more so for DH.

My insurance went drastically down going from LI to NJ.

I am also with NJ Manufacturer due to my husband.

Re: NJ car insurance

NJ state has one of the highest car insurance rates in the nation.

However, the rate depends on where you're moving from and to...

If you're moving from an NY suburb to another suburb in NJ you may not see much different. If you're moving from an NY suburb to a less desirable, high car theft rate town like Newark you may see an increase.
