NJ people - tell me about Chris Christie and the road work fiasco

Saw some headlines about the road work issues and roads being closed, etc

Are people up in arms? What are your thoughts? How is he perceived in your state ?

Re: NJ people - tell me about Chris Christie and the road work fiasco

Everyone I know thinks he is a joke, do nothing Governor. We had the most damage from Hurricane Sandy by millions of dollars but when it came time to get federal funding, we were shafted and states that did not get damaged received more money than we did for crap completely unrelated to the storm. He holds personal vendettas against people. So bridge gate, he was annoyed not to get endorsed by a mayor. Not that the mayor endorsed someone else mind you, he just had not said anything yet. So CC was upset by that fact and decided to close some lanes from a local town next to the bridge. This was the first day of school too. S what should have been a 45 minute commute became a four hour commute traffic nightmare. He is never here and charging the state for his travel to become president. Then there is the contention over funding teacher pensions. He and his predecessors did not fund teacher pensions. The teachers knew that, so in their contract they thought they would negotiate that they would put in more to get the state to match the money. Well, he did not do that. Instead he got the state courts to agree that the state can't afford to pay the pension obligations. We have a problem though, this one is not of his making, but it is something he has to deal with. About 30 years ago there was a US supreme ct case that said about thirty schools were underfunded. So schools like Camden get 45,000 per kid per year but they squander the money. Meanwhile taxes go up up up, but other schools are underfunded. It is a mess.
