No he did not just say that.
I figured out this neat trick for getting Jake to do what I want sans the obligatory melodramatic tantrum... example:
Me: Jake, it's time to get out of the pool
Jake: Noooooooooooo!! [begin writhing and whining...]
Me: Ok Jake, 5 minutes. You have 5 more minutes and then you are coming out of the pool. FIVE minutes - ok?
Jake: [gives a slightly pouty nod]
Two minutes and 30 seconds later Jake is out of the pool without a fuss! Yay for Mommy!!
Fast forward 1 week.
DH: Jake, it's bathtime.
Jake: [Holding up one chubby little finger] ONE minute Daddy - ok? ONE minute.
[Goes back to doing what he was doing like he's the boss]
