No poop in 12 hours

for my 3 week old...could he be adjusting? Im reading that its quite normal considering that he is breastfed during the day...I just gave him formula at 9:30pm so I think that is going to create a little bowel movement...but other than that I haven't seen a poop after BF last night and today...anybody else experience this?

Thanks!

We had the same thing except it was a couple of days before she did anything. She was really gassy and uncomfortable. I was BF and doing formula. We changed to soy and she totally changed. Give it another day or so. If your concerned, call the DR.

Re: No poop in 12 hours

My DS is 5 wks old & I just asked the ped about this on Wed when we were there. He said it's very normal because his digestive system is starting to mature & can hold things a little longer.

As long as the stool is the normal color & consistency, he is not constipated. Also, there should still be a lot of wet diapers through out the day. HTH

There are lots of wet diapers! Thanks! Now I can take a nap in peace...he doesn't seem uncomfortable and just pooped (formula poop)...

Yes, we have had this twice so far. Don't worry, he will make up for it Chat Icon Our pediatrician told us it was completely normal. The breast milk actually helps clean them out.

Re: No poop in 12 hours

There were times during the first few months when DS would go a few days without one. The DR. said it was normal.
