Is it from every faucet or just one?

Re: No water from my bathroom sink?
Probably frozen pipes. Try putting a space heater blowing on the pipes under the sink or even a hair dryer for a while. It may take a long time to thaw.

Re: No water from my bathroom sink?
Are the pipes along an outside wall? What is below the bathroom? Is it both hot and cold water?
I'm also guessing frozen pipes.....
Tomorrow the temps should hit almost 50 degrees, so if they ARE frozen, the water should be flowing tomorrow. I would try the space heater thing, though. You shouldn't wait too long to unfreeze pipes.....

I would say frozen pipes. Definitely try the space heater to defrost them and make sure you keep the faucet turned on so the pipes won't crack.

Re: No water from my bathroom sink?
it's only in this bathroom and only from the sink. The bathrub and toilet are fine.
We've been in this house 6 years and never had this.
I'm wondering if there is sediment that is backing up the pipes.
I haven't tried today yet but the bathroom is on an outside wall.

I wouldn't think it would be sediment. The cold water pipes come directly from the street. The hot water pipes go through the boiler.
Is the toilet and the bathtub supply pipes on the same outside wall?

We experienced frozen pipes a few years ago and all the water to all fixtures in our bathroom stopped running.

Re: No water from my bathroom sink?
so I think because we never turned the valve from the outside spiget (sp) off, there is some frozen pipe or water in the line preventing the water from coming through.
I guess I'll wait until tomorrow when it's warmer to turn the valve off and see what happens.
Any advice is appreciated here. Let's just hope I don't burst a pipe.

Re: No water from my bathroom sink?
Like a PP said.... a space heater will do the trick, or a hair dryer, but that will be more difficult.

Re: No water from my bathroom sink?
ok, so I took out the blow dryer for a while. The pipes got room temp or warm and I left the faucet on.
DH closed the faucet because he doesn't think it matters.
I could hook up the space heater later.
No water came out before. Could it be that the pipe is outside where I can't warm it up..or at least in the wall where I can't get the heat?
Thanks so much for helping me.

Re: No water from my bathroom sink?
I would rule out the faucet. Turn off both cold and hot water supply lines beneath the sink. Loosen the cold water faucet connector running to the faucet. Get a bucket and put the cold water supply line in the bucket and turn the cold water supply line on slowly. If water comes out, you have a problem with the faucet.

Re: No water from my bathroom sink?
the water is running today. Now I need to insulate the pipes. I guess I can get pipe covers at HD?

Yes, HD sells pipe covers. I would also look into the warming tape to prevent this from hapening again too. HTH

You really should keep the faucet open if it is frozen pipes!

I agree, but DH wouldn't listen to me. He was afraid we would go to bed and flood the place.
