Non-dairy butter or margarine
Like Smart Balance, or the Trader Joe's version. Has anyone used this stuff to cook or bake with? How does it compare to real butter?
Bringing something to my parents this weekend for RH, and it needs to be parve.

Re: Non-dairy butter or margarine
Margarine has trace amounts of dairy but no milk. It may have whey or lactose.
If you go to the supermarket you can look through the margarines that say parve.

Re: Non-dairy butter or margarine
I always use fleischmans b/c DH and I are lactose intolerant. Not all fleischmans margarine is lactose free so you have to check for the little kosher symbol (the u with a circle around it) and if there is a D next to it, it means there is dairy in it. I use it for baking all the time and you'd never know the difference.
