Non-Disney, non-theme park things in Orlando
Anyone have any suggestions of things to do that aren't theme parks in Orlando? We'll be there for a week in April (not my choice, it's a big family trip) and just did a week at Disney and aren't looking to do more than a day there again. Anything fun or interesting you have heard about or done in that area? We don't want to travel too far, so no day trips to the beach.

Ripley's Believe it or Not! Orlando Odditorium Screamin' Gator Zip Line at Gatorland Chocolate Kingdom - Interactive Factory Adventure Tour (I just googled those, I've never been to any of them).
I know you said no day trips but NASA/Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is worth going to.

Honestly there is nothing that great in Orlando that doesn't involve a theme park IMO. We went to the Wonderworks place, and that was fun for an hour, but way overpriced for what it was. There is Medieval Times (we have that at home though). Wet n Wild Waterpark. I know you said no theme parks, but I would do Universal, so fun!

Looks like we'll be hanging out by the pool a lot, which is fine by me...pool in warmish weather vs home in dreary April...thanks for the suggestions!

There is an old town area that has shops and carnival type rides. We go and spend an few hrs there.
There is also a animal thing around...like gators and such. I think you can do swamp boat tours.
There is actually a ton of things you just have to look around.

Downtown Disney? Our kids love the lego store there and the T Rex restaurant where you can dig. We have also done Celebration but it was in December.
Our kids really enjoy Seaworld but that is probably still considered a theme park.
We have had a good time visiting various resorts. They are not always obviously Disney. Like we ate Indian food at Animal Lodge and looked at the animals. We have also visited Port Orleans to eat Cajun food and taken the ferry to Downtown Disney. We have ridden bikes around the Boardwalk, taken the boat around to nowhere and roasted marshmallows (crashed Beach Club's marshmallow roasting).
Our kids love the pool so we always enjoy doing that.
