Non-election related
DH and I had a "tea party" today
Neither of us drink coffee but we both like tea, and got sucked in by the Teavana people at the mall.... and bought 2 tins of loose tea.
Today I brewed some mate vana tea (smells amazing, almost chocolatey and has high caffeine) and we drank from the tea cups/saucers from our china. the teapot isn't from our china set (didn't come with a teapot) and was on clearance at Crate & Barrel, but matches very well (plain white china with a platinum stripe).
I took some pictures for my grandmother who got us much of our china.
I think it was my first "tea party"
FWIW, fresh brewed loose tea is soooo much better than the tea bags

Can you ask him a Q for me? They recommend using a specific temperature of water for brewing white tea, and mate tea is more flexible. I just put water in our electric tea kettle and let it boil and then used it.... how does he boil his water for white tea? should i use our kitchen timer/thermometer?

I asked him. He said for white tea you're supposed to use water that is really hot, but not boiling. So either get the water right before it starts boiling, or let it boil and then wait a minute before you pour it on the tea. Otherise, it will burn the white tea and ruin it.
Who knew tea could be so complicated!?
