Non stress test tuesday
so i know u are hooked up to the monitor, looking at the fetal heart rate, but what exactly are they looking for? Accelerations? what is a good non stress test result? i have to have one ever week starting tues until he arrives.

I just had my first one today. they hook you up to the monitor to check the fetal heartrate and the TOCO to check the uterus (if there are any contractions).
They give you a push button to press everytime you feel the baby move and then it marks the strip. The RN then analyzes the strip and makes sure the HR goes up x 15 beats at least 2x (i think its 2 x) with every movement.
it took about 40 min, but my little one was sleeping for the first 15.
And that's it!

At first they had me lying all the way back. When they realized she was  the moved the back of the chair up and gave me a cold glass of water and that got her up!

Piece of cake. I go onced a week. If my kid is not moving around (which is common) they bang spoons on my belly  My old OB would use this buzzer thing. Try and eat or drink something before you go.

From what i have heard its they are just done on a case by case basis. im getting it b/c i have high blood pressure.

I had them weekly with my son and when he was really sleepy they would make me drink OJ, Chew gum( ??) and even put ice cubes on my belly? And really just jiggle my stomach like crazy.
