non-thanksgiving question... salted cod

how do you de-saltify it?

i just made it for dinner, and it wasn't bad. the boy and man had two servings, but i felt it was saltier than i would have liked.

my mom told me to soak it in cold water with a splash of milk for 15 minutes, change the water and repeat two more times.

then... boil it for 15 minutes before cooking it.

does anyone do anything different?

I have always heard that you should soak it overnight and change the water every few hours.

Salt it for 24 hours, changing the water 4-6 times.

We soak it for a few days, maybe two? constantly changing the water OR leaving the faucet on just a little bit so its always cycling out.
