Noooooooo.... what to do?

Ugh...

So my 3 and a half month old son has recently started rolling over from back to tummy.

At night the only way to get him to sleep is to swaddle him.

Well, this morning DH found DS in his crib, face down, all swaddled up!

I am freaking out... does this mean we have to stop swaddling him? I don't want him to turn over and not be able to get his face free.

And at the same time I am freaking out about not swaddling him... we won't get anymore sleep!!!!

What to do???

I would ue a positioner. This way you can still swaddle him but he won't b able to roll.

Personally, I would stop swaddling. After 3-4 months they supposedly don't need it as much anyway.

Ugh, if you only knew how much DS still needs swaddling... if he's not swaddled, he punches himself in the face and never really falls asleep! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I was hoping to swaddle him until he was 18!!!

My DS was like this (his flailing hands would keep him awake) but I stopped swaddling and started using the sleep positioner on his side and it keeps him from punching himself. He got used to it pretty quickly.

Re: Noooooooo.... what to do?

Once they start rolling it gets hard...I tried every sleep positioner out there and DS still managed to roll.

The same thing was happening to me when DS was two months - I got a sleep positioner! Took care of that! Chat Icon

Re: Noooooooo.... what to do?

I would stop swaddling, and a positioner is only to be used up until they roll, since he is rolling i wouldnt use positioner wedge

My son stopped rolling at that age - and even now when he rolls all over the place - once he's in the positioner he doesn't roll -- just scoots all over the crib. I say to give it a try - they are cheap enough - and I would DEF. still swaddle if he hasn't outgrown it yet! Chat Icon
