Normally very happy baby is being challenging...with QUESTIONS
My DD is 5 1/2 weeks old.
She normally cries when she is hungry, tired or has gas... She is very happy otherwise and once comforted or her needs are taken care of, she is wonderful. She is a great sleeper, no issues there.
However, I have been noticing that it is taking longer and longer to finish a 4oz bottle and around 2oz she is dozing off- To get the other once or so in, I have to prode her and really wake her up.
She will scream that she wants more when the bottle is taken out of her mouth to burp...
Feeding is taking longer- it used to take 15-20 minutes max, not it can take 30 min- 45 min and sometimes an hour!
And, she does not seem content throughout the day anymore- (two days have been more crying than normal)
It is frustrating and I don't know what's wrong... Is it the food? Gas? Nipple? bottle?
Please help!

Re: Normally very happy baby is being challenging...with QUESTIONS
I did notice a change in DD around the 5-6 week mark. For us, she became very gassy and a little colicky, so we switched her formula to Nutramigen.
It could also be a growth spurt

I was def thinking growth spurt too..... Also, what kind of bottles are you using? It may be time to see if you can't try to start transitioning to the Stage 2 nipple. My DD ended her bottles on the Stage 2 nip - she was in NO RUSH to move onto faster flows, but maybe your DD is diff, KWIM?

Re: Normally very happy baby is being challenging...with QUESTIONS
We went through this when DS needed a faster nipple, but she seems sort of young to move up so soon.
I had this problem with DS sometimes and for him I think it was gas. He would finish about half and then doze off, but if you took the bottle out, he would cry. So, I would feed him until he looked like he was asleep, then I would burp him - it would help with the gas and wake him up a bit. Then, I would give him the rest.
I think sometimes too, he just liked the comfort of being held and eating.
