North Shore Delivery
Does anyone know the status of new private maternity rooms that were planned to be built at North Shore Manhasset? I'm delivering in April and wonder what the room options will be like as well as cost. If anyone should happen to know...

Re: North Shore Delivery
As of now there are big renovations being done that will not be completed until 2011. As a result, several rooms have been closed forcing them to double up private rooms. There are very few private rooms available - they are avaiable on a first come basis -as in, when you are admitted you can go on a waiting list and if one is available you get it. My OB said the price ranges depending on the available room from $700-$1400 per night.
I had a private room when I delivered DS but this was 2 yrs ago. I have two friends that delivered in the past month and both tried to get a private room but were unable to b/c there were none availablle.
I'm delivering very soon and praying I get one!
HTH!

Re: North Shore Delivery
I just delivered there in July but didnt get a private room. The cost was $700.00 and up and I felt that was just a waste of money. I had a window bed with a view of the garden and waterfall. I only had a roomate 2 of the 4 nights I was there. It wasnt bad bc they were nice and sharing the bathroom wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. I did bring my own cleaning wipes for the bathroom .

Re: North Shore Delivery
I delivered there in Jan 08 and it was horrible. There were NO ROOMS available, forget about a private room! I spent the first 15 hours after my son was delivered in the recovery room. I was only in my room for one night, i had two awful roommates. The hospital was so overcrowded that I even considered switching OBs so I could deliver elsewhere, although in the end I will just go back there and hope for the best.
