North Shore Sandy Beaches?
Any near Port Jeff? We just got back from Cedar Beach and while the west end seemed a little less rocky, my feet are still killing me! Are there any sandy beaches or should we just stick to the south shore?

I would like to know this as well, so far all the beaches in shorehom, brookhaven and cedar are mostly rocky.

Wading River (not sure what the names are) are a bit less rocky then Cedar...

Well yeah, I think they are. I just didn't know if there was maybe one where they trucked in some sand or something  It's mighty hard to build a sandcastle out of rocks !

Ok, I thought I was missing something!! I think that sometimes the tide can make the north shore beaches a little more sandy. We have a summer house out east on a north shore beach and every so often it will be sandy and not rocky, but there is no rhyme or reason to it. My dog like us to throw rocks in the water for her to catch and chew on  so we like the rocky beaches to keep her entertained!!

Hauling ALL the stuff ALL the way to the water's edge makes me cringe though I do like Smith Point a lot because there is not as much of a hike from water to bathroom and snackbar, but add Emma to the mix and I don't think I can do it.

Where at Sunken MEadow? Its not that far at ALL from Boardwalk to BEach. I would go with you anytime.
Or come haul butt to Jones BEach with us ( which is a hike to waters edge though I will admit) but its fun to get a walk in on Boardwalk as well.

I take his old Stroller ( the graco Quattro) ....I hang all sorts of my bags ( diaper bag, beach bag and toy bag) form it. In the basket I put my cooler with lunch, my Mat ( you saw the one I use) and anything else..oh and my BEach Chair, I hook on the stroller too.... I put him in the stroller and when I get to the beach, I turn the stroller around and DRAG int through the sand ( I learned this courtesy of seeing another mom at Jones Beach doing it all)
I have that tent thingy too but I CANNOT put that darn thing together myself, EVER...so I only bring that when DH is there.
Im looking into getting one of those Cart type things..Heres a pic..looks easier, and will carry Noah , but for now the stroller works well..
 They are $59.99 at Bed bath and Beyond, plus you always have a 20% off coupon.

Hmm I wonder if the Zippy would go backwards..then she would have something to sleep in too I thought about using a sled to pull her across the sand 
I got my tent..I dropped the poles the string came undone and 2 fell off. It was nice while it lasted that whole 2 hours in my house!
