Northport area people...I booked Brody's Birthday Party same day as the Wounded Warrior Race,
at White Post Farms. I booked it several months ago. It is scheduled for 11 am, the same day as the race. Do you think I should change it?
The race route is a block above us, so I think we will be able to get out of our street, and so should all of his friends. Do you think most locals will be involved in the festivities and not want to leave town to attend a party?
WPF does not have any available day time, week end slots until November if I re- schedule.
What do you think?

Re: Northport area people...I booked Brody's Birthday Party same day as the Wounded Warrior Race,
it's hard to predict everything but i wouldn't re-schedule it. it's not on your block so you can get out and i'm sure that if there are others who live in the area that they shoulc be able to make it. it's not a huge event like the cow harbor is-that would make me pause and rearrange. i think this is the first year so it probably won't be too bad.

Re: Northport area people...I booked Brody's Birthday Party same day as the Wounded Warrior Race,
The signs say roads are only closed 8:30-10:30. when is the party? Also, I that is the total time they need, depending on the street, they will reopen earlier than 10:30

Re: Northport area people...I booked Brody's Birthday Party same day as the Wounded Warrior Race,
You may want to call the town or the race committee before changing it. Also if people coming to the party are in town, they'll run into the same issue.
We used to park our car on the other side of the blocked off streets. I'd either get everyone out earlier or do that unless it affects all of the party guests.

Re: Northport area people...I booked Brody's Birthday Party same day as the Wounded Warrior Race,
Huntington Director of Parks and Recreation Donald McKay spoke about plans for the Cow Harbor Wounded Warriors race at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. XX on behalf of the organization.
The group recently met with Police Chief Ric Bruckenthal to go over the route for the 4 mile race which starts on Waterside Avenue and ends at Steers Beach to work out traffic management and road closures.
McKay said he hopes that the race will be over by 9:45 a.m. at the latest and asked the village board if the gates at Steers Beach could be opened to divert traffic away from the runners. He added that police and volunteers will direct traffic along all major roads and intersections affected by the race and will alert residents to road changes ahead of time through leafletting, signs, and possibly through the Town of Huntington's phone alert system.
McKay said that the event managers will not wait for the race's last finishers to open the gates. "We're going to open it up and we'll be advising runners that the roadways will be opening up to traffic," he said, to which Trustee Tom Kehoe protested, saying that rushing the opening could put runners and spectators in harm's way. He and other board members agreed that it was prudent to keep the gates closed for as long as needed, at most an hour and a half, according to McKay.
