Not a fun topic but...incontinence issues after having a child?
I had a pretty routine vaginal birth with some tearing and stitches but nothing horrific. I was fine in a week. No issues at all.
It's now 5 years later and I feel like I'm still having some leakage issues with pee.
Is this normal? Dr suggested kegels but I have problems doing kegels- I can't really hold them as long as i need to. It's very frustrating.
Anyone else still have this issue years after a birth?
I am not peeing my pants or anything but I know I'm leaking throughout the day and sometimes if I REALLY have to go and REALLY push it, as I'm pulling my pants down when finally at the toilet I feel like i can't hold it.
So nasty.

It's common, but not normal, kwim? If you can't old the kegels long enough, do more repetitions. If it's really bothering you see a urologist that specializes in women's issues.... There are other techniques they can teach you.

I do not, at 1 yr postpartum, have a problem anymore. But I had asked at my 6 week appointment and the OB said do kegals and if it didn't get better, to go to a urologist. No leakage, but I could not hold it in at all. I had an episiotomy and a lot of discomfort from the catheter placement.

I have a different issue - prolapse - specifically a rectocele, but I saw a gynourologist. She said to do kegels. I got a script for physical therapy since my pelvic floor is not as strong as it used to be. I can tell especially during sex. I plan on calling this week to schedule an appointment. I got the HabIt video, but I'm not sure if I'm isolating the correct muscles.

Re: Not a fun topic but...incontinence issues after having a child?
I have next to no bladder control after 2 kids. When I have to go, I have to go! My ob told me that there is a pocket in there that holds pee and sometimes it just opens. Like you are peeing and stop and more comes out, I can't feel it or stop it if I wanted to. Fun times let me tell you.

I had problems after my first LO was born and now anticipating having my second, I fear I will never be "normal" again... I'd love to hear from women who had issues and then it got better or resolved through their dr, etc... def not a fun topic but I commiserate.

I had some issues with jumping rope after my first child. LOL. After the second it's horrendous. Leaking randomly and much more leaking during exercise (and I feel like it depends on the time of the month for some reason--worse or better). It's been over a year and it's better but still signfiicant to me. My OB told me do kegals and gave me a script for PT (which I don't really have time to commit to and the way she was talking about it I don't think it would really solve it). There is a surgery they can do and really this is so annoying that I may consider it at some point. It's mostly during my exercise that it gets really bad but I'm a frequent exerciser so it's always an issue.

From what I've read (and I've done extensive research on it) PT can definitely help. I will try to update this after I try it out for a bit.
People dealing with incontinence have a bladder prolapse and/or an issue with their spintcher. By strengthening the pelvic floor, you will help your issue and you could potentially resolve it.
My prolapse is the main thing that is making me unsure if I am going to try to have another child (on top of our IF issues). Mine is currently a grade 2 and I do not have many issues associated with it - my dr was actually surprised I even noticed it. I am afraid that if I do get pregnant, my second child will destroy my pelvic floor. I had a quick, relatively easy labor with a "big" baby (according to the doctors - I think he was average size), which apparently often causes a prolapse.
