Not entirely pregnancy related - Recipe suggestions for very easy dinners

I have been sick this week, but I need to plan dinner and food shopping for the week. I don't want to push myself b/c I don't want to get sicker and I am due in a few weeks.

Any very simple and easy dinner recipes or recommendations that I can prepare this week? I can't do take-out too often b/c I will be even sicker.

TIA

.make a big batch of sauce today - enough for 2 meals and switch up the pasta - ravioli one day, penne another.

.marinate some chicken cutlets for DH to throw on the bbq; add a bag of salad and cut up 2 potatoes into long strips, season with a little olive oil, Lawry's salt and pepper and bake at 400 for healthy french fries.

both are hits in my house (and what we're having tonight and tomorrow since I'm sick as a dog myself Chat Icon)

LOVE this idea for a thread- keep 'em coming!

I like to make big meals that leave leftovers....like a huge batch of pasta.

I love to make pasta with chicken apple sausage, broccoli florets and toss 'em with sun dried tomatoes in oil....

ONe of my biggest cravings has been swedish meatballs ( made with chicken chopped meat instead of beef)

This is an easy and "rachel ray" way to make it

chopped meat( lamb, chicken, beef..whatever you like)
wide noodles
-large can of cream of mushroom soup
just make the meatballs...add to a pot of the cream of mushroom soup....season to taste and serve over noodles....
It cannot get any easier thn that and its so filling!
this is a great thread idea! I try to think of meals in stages of standing LOL

Re: Not entirely pregnancy related - Recipe suggestions for very easy dinners

when in doubt... I always make pasta and sauce. So easy. Plus, I get a lot of those frozen veggies in the steamer bags. Just throw in the microwave for 5 mins and you got veggies, pasta and sauce.
Mac and cheese is easy
sandwich night
make your own pizza. Buy the pizza dough, sauce, cheese and veggies you want to put on
tacos
spaghetti and meatballs (I have an easy recipee if you want)

Re: Not entirely pregnancy related - Recipe suggestions for very easy dinners

roast a LARGE chicken with potatoes and carrots. about 10 mins before ready, roast asparagus in separate sheet as a side. YUM.

use left over meat from chicken to make

chicken salad sandwiches (serve on crusty bread with simple side salad)

OR

chicken tacos. serve with sliced avocados (way easier that guac), lettuce, tomatoes, and black beans.
easy black beans
sautee finely chopped onion (one half of a small) in a frying pan until soft. add black beans (either canned or previously soaked/boiled dry) and cook for about 15 minutes. the end.

OR

chicken tortellini soup.
dice up carrots, onions, and celery. sautee in soup pot with olive oil for about 5 minutes. add 32 oz chicken stock. cook for 20 minutes and carrots are soft. add salt and pepper. add roasted chicken. grate in parma cheese. (cook tortellini according to directions in salted water). ladle tortellini into a bowl, and chicken soup on top. serve with crusty bread.

beef and bean chili

pasta with sausage and broccoli rabe

panini (crusty bread, with cheese on both sides, anything in the middle!) stick in heavy frying pan and place a heavy object on top (a filled tea kettle works great) cook until brown on one side, flip, cook until brown on the other. serve with simple salad or above soup.
