Not sure if I am posting this in the right place, but are there any accountants or payroll people that can help me calculate take home pay?

Does anyone know how to calculate your take home pay?

The reason I'm asking is that I would like to propose to my supervisor the option of working part-time next school year (I am pregnant with DC #2) and I would love to be home a few days a week with the kids but I am not quite sure if we can swing it - it might be tight and I need to know exactly what I would be actually taking home before I propose the idea (i.e. would I take home enough to combine with DH's salary to make all our bills and life expenses.)

I know exactly what my salary will be next year (we have a contract where our salary is set for the next 3 years). Soooo...after I would divide that salary by half, how is it taxed?

What % goes to federal tax? What % to state tax? What % to Medicare/Social Security? Any other mandatory deductions I am not thinking of? Besides that I can figure out my other deductions because they are either pre-tax deductions or optional deductions like insurance.

Does this make sense? Can anyone help?

TIA!
