Not sure if this is to personal, but moms that got pregnant by IVF question for you
Were you embarassed to tell people that, that is how you got pregnant? The reason I ask is because a family member of ours found out that their DIL is pg and did so by IVF and when mom congratulated the family member in being a grandmother she told her that she hasn't told anyone but they had some problems almost like she was embarassed by it. I couldn't imagine being embarassed, I think I would want the world to know.

I didn't get PG by IVF...but I did get PG by IUI (#5), and no, I wasn't embarrassed. My family/friends and DH's family/friends were very supportive during the infertility roller coaster, so they knew how we got PG, so it was never an issue for us.

We were fortunate to conceive DD naturally but how anyone can be embarrassed by having problems becoming pregnant is beyond me??? It doesn't matter how a child was conceived, they are ALL a blessing!!! This person sounds ridiculous!

Absolutely not embarrassed at all!
I consider myself very lucky that inspite of not being able to conceive the "natural" way and never will be able to that DH & I now have our little baby girl. After 3 IVF's we are blessed. It is nothing to be embarassed of at all and no one should feel like a "sub-human" for not being able to have children the "typical" way. If anything having a baby thru IVF has given me a more humble outlook on having children and thank god everyday that I was given the chance to be a parent.
I have told everyone that we had our child thru IVF very proudly.

Not embarassed at all and have no problems telling people. My children will always know that they were very, very, very planned.
We were lucky to get pregnant on round #1 of IVF but I did 4 inseminations before that. Total... over a year of fertility treatments.
IMO, not talking about it only promotes the "stigma" of infertility. We are BORN this way. If I was born with a heart value defect should I be ashamed? Well, I was born with a hormonal inbalance which causes my ovaries to not ovulate at all on their own w/o meds.
I think it's very ironic that there are people out there who eat junk food, drink too much, smoke, don't exercise and are stress junkies but they have no shame in talking about their health problems whihc quite honestly are manifestations of their own actions and choices, whereas, men and women, through no fault of their own, are born with fertility challenges and they feel ashamed... that's not right.
I am so blessed and thankful that in this day and age I was able to have access to such wonderful, knowledgable doctors and nurses. Even if this was 20 years ago, I would not be able to ever have biological children.

I'm not embarrassed, but I don't go around telling people.
My mom, instead of being sympathetic about all that I went through, was instead disappointed that we had to use science in order to conceive. Um, without science, we would not have our beautiful baby boy So after that lovely comment, I kept it to myself.

Not embarassed at all. Actually...I feel quite the opposite and felt that it made the pregnancy all the more special for me. After struggling with IF for several years we were fortunate to get pg on our first round of IVF after many failed IUI's. Now I still cannot believe we have a son and I feel so blessed to have him in my life. All of our friends and family know that is how we conceived and everyone has been very supportive.
