Not sure where to post...Scared X-post
Hi Ladies,
Not sure where to post this.... Health, infertility? TTC?
Anyway.... just had an ovarian sonogram and the doctor found a dermoid cyst (a benign cystic teratoma) on my right ovary. It's 99% likely that it will not be cancer, so that's good... BUT if it's not taken care of, I could lose my ovary! I am so worried... we wanted to TTC soon!
My gyn. recommended Dr. Farr Nezhat and/or the L.I. Gynelogical Oncologists practice in Mineola....
Has anyone had any experience with the above doctors??? And with dermoid cysts on the ovaries? If you have had this, what was it like for you?
TIA!!!!

I have too much experience with this!
I had a huge one removed when I was 25 and they tried to save the ovary.
I had 2 natural DD's after that!
Any other question feel free to Fm me

Re: Not sure where to post...Scared X-post
I'm so sorry to hear this.
If it's any consolation, my SIL only has one working ovary and was able to get PG (naturally at that!).
Obviously, we all hope that it will not come down to you losing your ovary but if, g-d forbid you do, it doesn't mean you will never be able to have children.
GL!!!

I believe my grandma went to the LI gynecological oncologists when she had uterine cancer. If it is the same people (and I will try to find out) they treated her wonderfully. She is now in remission! for u!

I had a dermoid cyst removed in 1999- it was about the size of a grapefruit. I lost a quarter of my ovary.
I later had absolutely NO issue getting pg with my daughter.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes....
I am starting to feel a little more calm about this!
Unfortunately, now.... i just found out LI gyn. oncologists doesn't take my insurance and the other guy doesn't take ANY insurance, so i don't think i can afford that! so much for the referrals! now i'm looking for a doctor!

Re: Not sure where to post...Scared X-post
My mom had this and had one ovary removed. She had 3 kids without fertility treatments.
Her Gyn Oncologist is Dr. Buell. I am not sure if she is associated with LI Gyn, but she is in Mineola. She took over for Dr. Vallea a few years ago when he took a teaching position at Duke. She did my mom's hysterectomy recently when she had additional issues post-menopause.

does your plan have an out of network provision? If so, the doctors can work with multiplan and they may take what the insurance will pay.
Just a thought. good luck..don't panic.
