not sure where to put this.. my neighbor wont talk to me.. small update.. someone called the town on her

I have these huge trees over my house... not my trees. I have told her over and over again I was saving to have the property line cut down. Well I finally have enough saved and set the date. The guy from the company said just inform your neighbors, so I did. Well one neighbor awesome while he is here I might ask for some others to be cut down.... the other neighbor cursed me out. "Your going to kill my f***** tree , I can't f***** beleive this. " at that point I just walked away. She has always been a hot or cold neighbor ,meaning some days I will come home an my leaves will be raked up and the there have been times she's yelled at me cause her car got wet from my sprinkler. I am just to tired of cleaning up after my neighbors tree. It destroys my pool and my lawn. I don't have any maples or oaks on my property but yet over 15 big black bags of leaves and acorns I pick up every year. I know its not going to completely stop the leaves and what not but it will certinly help.

So my question is, what can I do to possibly stop her from being so pist off. I know its not going to kill the tree(its about 30 years old and has 6 trunks growing in different directions) I just don't want to live like this next to her. (Sorry for misspells in advance on my cell)

Eta: someone called the town on her and she just asked if I did. Why would I call the town.... sorry I was told all my life you have to live next to these people don't cause trouble , it might bite back. She has a boat on the other side of her property that is on the edge of her other neighbors driveway. She has had problems with them too... now she is threating to call the town back on every one(neighbors across the street too).... thank god she can't call on me. And if she does then I don't know what will happen. I have a feeling a block war is going to happen. Now I am even more worried about Tuesday when the trees come down.

Probably not much you can do, but hope it eventually blows over.
My sister and her DH had something similar happen. Their neighbors tree hung over their driveway and was dropping leaves etc all over their cars. They asked the neighbor if they could trim it and she actually agreed to let them cut it down.
Now everytime my sister sees her neighbor she whines about missing her tree.

Personally, I don't think you have to do anything. You're not doing anything wrong and your neighbor is going to have to just deal and get over it. I mean really, what is she so pi$$ed about? I get it's her tree but once it grows over property lines and into your backyard you have EVERY right to prune it back as you see fit and she really can't say anything about it. I would ignore her nonsense and I am sure she will come back around. I wouldn't sweat it.

I don't think you are doing anything wrong and your neighbor is just going to have to deal. Her tree is effecting your property and that's not something you should have to put up with. It's not like you are going on her property and having the tree removed, you're having it trimmed. If it was me in her situation, I would have actually offered to have it done for you since its my tree causing the problem. You did the right thing and went over to speak to her about it and the way she handled it was extremely childish and uncalled for. I hope she soon realizes she was in the wrong.

Not really anything you can do, like you said this person is hot and cold to begin with. But don't worry- you're not doing anything wrong!

I would just make sure the tree guy is careful. My neighbor asked if it was OK to cut some of my trees...and I said "sure..as long as they are on your side"

Well the tree guy butchered some of my trees and was cutting all branches...not just ones facing the neighbor..and we are talking trees that are well on my property. When they knocked my phone line down that didn't help either. That would probably set crazy lady off!

There is nothing you can do.. You were nice enough to warn her, you didn't even need to do that. You can do what you want to what is hanging over your property.

I agree with everyone else, you can't do much. You're allowed to cut those branches down that hang over your property.

I would, however, take some before and after pictures just in case she makes a big stink. That way you can show what it looked like before you cut and after.

I'd cut those branches in a nice straight line to really make a point. F*her attitude about it. It's not your problem.

We had to cut part of a tree that came into our yard so we could put a fence up. (The branch was directly in the way). Our neighbors were totally fine with it. We were worried it would kill the tree, but luckily it's doing fine.

unfortunatley for her she doesnt really have a choice. If it's hanging over your yard you have every right to cut a straight line right up to the top of the tree and get rid of anything hanging over. hopefully she will get over this. neighbors can be so annoying.

I would either video tape it or take before/after pics. Make sure they don't go on her property to cut down the branches on your side.

The trees have grown over well within your property so you have every right to cut them back.

Cutting them back won't kill them either, maybe you could ask the tree service to explain this to them so they won't be as angry.

She can do whatever she wants but as long as you are not cutting over HER property line than she can't do anything. Now her boat is a different story. But that is not your problem.

I am so sorry you going through this. Neighbors can be hard to deal with. I had a neighbor that was mentally ill and when off his medicine he would abuse his mother and drive us crazy with flashlights in our windows, egg our cars, do crazy stuff to us but the police couldn't do anything.

Ohh how I feel your pain. My parents neighbor is crazy like that! She has oak trees that grow and hang over my parents property. My parents have always had whatever hangs onto their property trimmed back so it doesn't damage their roof. Since this woman has lived there they've had nothing but problems. She's a big "save the tree" person, which is fine, but my parent's aren't cutting the tree down. One year she tied herself to the tree so the workers couldn't do anything, another year she jumped on the roof of the guys truck and was directing him LOL I can't make this stuff up and the last time was 2 years ago..we sent her a certified letter making her aware of my parents legal right to do this along with all legal information and she still caused a problem to the point where she got in my mothers face yelling and screaming. I get livid just thinking about this. NExt time the tree's need to be cut I'm flying down there and going to the local precinct to see if they can have a car sitting there or at least be alert of the situation b/c if she does start trouble she can deal with me! I know they doesn't help you but i hope it makes u feel better that you're not alone!! Just do what you have to do and she'll just have to deal with it..as long as you have alerted her as to what yu are doing and you are only cutting what hangs onto your property then you're fine
