not trying to cause a debate re:vaccines....
Please only answer if you are answering my question. I am not asking for opinions, just a direct answer. TIA
if you did NOT vaccianate, how did you find a ped that would see your dc?
if you did NOT vaccinate and your dc is now in school, what was the process like trying to get them enrolled?
Thanks

Re: not trying to cause a debate re:vaccines....
My son didn't have the mmr booster when he was starting kindergarten. I didn't want to give it because he had such a bad reaction to the first mmr shot. Anyway, the nurse gave me such a lecture, told me I couldn't get out of it. You would have thought I shot the pope. I ended up giving it just to avoid that type of confrontation again.
So expect a lot of really bad reactions.
On the other hand the preschool didn't care at all. They were great about allowing parents to make their own choices. You my want to look into private schools.

Re: not trying to cause a debate re:vaccines....
Maybe I shouldn't answer because I vaccinated. My sister & a close friend chose not to vaccinate.
My sister opted for a wholistic/homepathic doctor (Doctor of Chiropractic) Dr. Reiter 758-8770 (out in Patchogue way). Obviously some pediatricians won't treat your child if you won't vaccinate. I know she has seen a regular ped for antibiotics at some point.
For school, be prepared to get an attorney if you're in NYS. She was able to get through the beginning of elementary school (because they were considered 'behind') but then it go more difficult & she was asked to come down to speak to a committee. She paid an attorney that specializes in immunization litigation (I believe the attorney had a child who was affected by a vaccine). She had to claim religious exemption because NYS doesn't allow for philosopical beliefs. Here's a good site that explains it: http://www.vaclib.org/exempt/newyork.htm
I have a call into my friend. I'll let you know what she says/did.
You may have a harder time in private school because while they are still regulated by the state, they often don't want to deal with anything out of the norm.

We vaccinate, but on a slower schedule. There are families in my practice that do not vaccinate at all. I found the practice through an LIFer!

I delayed ds vaccines. When it came time to enroll him in school, there was no way around it. I had to play catch up before he was allowed to set a toe in school

Re: not trying to cause a debate re:vaccines....
I vaccinate on a spread out schedule. I fought my Pediatrician because I based my opinions on CDC wording. It says BETWEEN say 3months and 6months and the next said BETWEEN 6months and nine, So I'd give one at 3, one at 6 and one at 9mth (example anyway).
One Ped suggested I was committing child abuse to give them to her spread out. It was my choice.
She'll be 4 in August. Normally school at 5yrs old (Kinder) would require ALL shots updated. Even tho the CDC says they have until they are 6, the public school will not accept AJ until they are ALL done prior to admission at age 5. Given that her bday is just before the cut off and start dates I'd have to give them all to her at age 4. I refuse.
Therefore AJ is staying in the Montessori school she's at through kinder.
We are giving her one shot at 4, one at 4 and a half, one at 5, and the last one at 5 and a half. At least thats my plan so far haha

I'm not sure. I started in NY when most of her shots were done.
I'll have to look up philisophical reason though I *think* the answer is no.
Well I was wrong: An affidavit signed by the applicant or, if a minor, by the applicant's parent or guardian stating that the applicant declines immunization for reasons of conscience, including a religious belief.

you are correct. Seems it was a recent change. I've never thought to try it though. Truth be told.
