Note to new Mommy self re: keys & the car.......
.....ALWAYS leave them in your pocket when putting small new child person into car ESPECIALLY in the summer

This has always been one of my biggest fears, I always make sure I put my keys in my pocket or leave one of the windows down so in case I do leave the keys in the car I can get in.

I locked DD in the car last month with it running! I had to call 911 to get her out. It happens to the best of us!

I have a keyless entry thank goodness so it won't let me do that. I've already put them in the diaper bag then walked around b/c you don't need the key to get in.... thank goodness it won't let me lock the door if the keys are in it.

I have a thick neon pink lanyard on my keys. I have gotten into the habit of just puting them around my neck as soon as I get out of the car. I look like an idiot sometimes, but I never have to worry about leaving the keys anywhere or locking them in the car. I bought the bright pink so it's easier to find them in my bag : )

it happened to me too. I also gave DD my keys in a store once because she was hysterical. Of course it calmed her down instantly, but she also dropped them which made me want to go hysterical.

Got mall security 1st to see if they had a slim jim (no because of liability reasons!!!).
They called the 7th precinct.....thankfully the car was started with my remote start so it ran for about 7-8 minutes with LJ in it with the AC on....maybe 6-8 with out AC on by the time the police got in the car ...he was screaming the last 3or 4 minutes

It happens ALL the time Don't beat yourself up about it
My sister did this with my nephew in the car.
it really is more common than you think and does NOT mean you did anything wrong
