Nothing to worry about?...Itchy, rashy skin I'm in my 8th month of pregnancy

Yesterday I noticed tiny red bumps on the front of my lower legs. It looks like a heat rash or a rash you would get from shaving. I itched it like crazy yesterday and today it is tolerable but you still see the rash/tiny red bumps.

Of course I did my google search on rashy skin during pregnancy and got scared at some of the things it could be.

Can you please tell me if you had some kind of rash during pregnancy, how long it lasted and what your doctor said about it. I called my dr 5 minutes ago and I'm waiting for her to call back.

I have the same thing on my butt Chat Icon I saw a dermatologist last week and he told me he thinks its PUPPPS and it will go away after I deliver. From the research I've done, it doesn't look like it but I'm no doctor.

The itching is the worst though and drives me completely off the wall. Try cortisone on it - cold showers (no warm or hot water) and ice packs if the itch gets bad. And I'd get it checked out in case it is PUPPPS - it's friggin nasty Chat Icon

The only rash that I know of that you have to be concerned about in the end of a pregnancy is Pupps. Definitely talk to your OB, he'll probably want you to come in so he can see. Good luck!!

I had that all over my shins the last 2 months with my first son...it wasn't PUPPS in my case, it was just a hormonal reaction and the shins are a common place for it. I put on a soothing lotion all day and tried not to itch too much. It went away right after I had him!

If anything I am hoping that it's just this. The post prior to this scares me. Maybebaby did you have to show your doctor the rash to confirm it was PUPPS.

My doctor looked at it and knew it wasn't PUPPS..it was just isolated to the shins and wasn't too awful, just red and itchy...i think i had a lotion with corizone in it to help with inflammation...HTH!

Cholestasis is something that occurs during pregnancy and is dangerous but its itching only - no rash as far as i know - I would definitely make an appt with your doc to check it out.
