now 6th reported Meningitis case

this is sooo scary... thank god everyone is ok so far and they all have been caught early..

i hope it stops and we dont have some sort of outbreak.
i know there have been shortages on the vaccine... not sure if there still is

it happens every year... Where were the cases?

It's primarily an undergrad dormroom problem. the kids have horrible diets (don't get me started on the coca cola and pepsi exclusive contracts universities have, and how only fast food is affordable on meal plans, and a salad costs as much as 3 slices of pizza), are overworked, are partying too hard, and as a result also aren't sleeping well. It depresses the immune system and then meningitis takes root

in all honesty, I think its the press that makes it a big deal.

First it was the mersa, now this. Its just the topic they choose to make a big deal about so we all get scared.

I believe they are all viral which isn't contagious, and most of the kids are already back in school, according to the news

I had viral meningitis in July. I was quarantined (everyone had to wear masks and suits..) in the hospital until they could figure out if it was viral or bacterial. They had to give me antibiotics as if they knew I had bacterial because by the time the tests came back it could be too late. It was really scary and I felt "off" for about a month after. But I'm okay now.


I'm suprised all these other cases are showing up all of a sudden. They told me in the hospital that it was a very freak thing that I even got it.

yea AND by me in levittown!! so thats 3!!

I graduated from Division & my brother & cousins are still there. I hope everyone who was infected is alright.
