now that i'm home from work - the good, bad, and ugly about my level II
first of all, the baby looks wonderful!!!!
except there were two issues - first, during the ultrasound the baby's heart rate slowed down, but then quickly rebounded to 147. my OB was not worried about this at all. she says it likely happens all the time, we just rarely catch it on ultrasound. but she is still sending me for a fetal echo at 24 weeks just to be safe
second, the baby's heart has a little bleb on it called an "echogenic focus". the vast majority of the time it's totally meaningless and goes away on its own. the OB wasn't worried about this either, but the combination of the two heart things made me a little anxious.
spoke to the OB about my almost passing out, and she wasn't concerned. my blood pressure was pretty low, and she's sure that's why.
i also told her that i've been having bad cramping and some soreness down there , so she checked me and turns out i have a bacterial infection. so i'm on antibiotics for a week. no big deal, but she said an infection like this could lead to premature labor. luckily my cervix is long and closed

Well thank goodness for the antibiotic....Thats the scariest part of it all actually for me...
The heart stuff could be nothing.....And I think for the most part it always is.
I had a fetal echo too, and it confirmed everythiong was ok. I hope yours does too....
The waiting is the wrost, and sometimes I think the Dr's are sooooo careful that they scare us worse...but you know all that so I know you understand its likely nothing.

I'm sure everything will be okay with your baby. It's always better to check things out fully so it's good they are sending you for more tests. As for the bacterial infection, I had the same thing and my doctor assured me it's very common and nothing to worry about.

thank you for the reassurance, everyone. i know deep down that the heart thing is probably nothing. actually the worst part of it all is having to wait a whole 4-5 weeks to get the echo done!!! (they do it at 24wks). i am hoping that the anxiety subsides as time goes by and the baby keeps moving and kicking!
to you all. i am so thankful for your support!!!

Try to take it easy, it sounds like your Dr is not too worried at all. Glad you were able to get some antibiotics, feel better.

Re: now that i'm home from work - the good, bad, and ugly about my level II
when i went for my level 2 they found an echogenic focus too. it stayed there for all of my growth sonos, but as the baby grew it stayed the same size. i had a sono the day before he was born and they couldn't find it.....my DS is 8 weeks old and doing great!!
i was soooo nervous about it but hope that eases your mind a little

It sounds like your doc is just being proactive. It's got to be a bit nervewracking...all the waiting...but it sounds like everything is going to be fine!
