NPR: Baptism in Catholic Church

I was not sure where to post this, but this is my first baby so maybe someone can help. I moved to my neighborhood almost 3 years ago but never registered with a Catholic church (I have attended local church as well as a neighboring parish). My DH and I decided we liked the neighboring parish better in regards to atmosphere and wanted to have the baby baptized there. The bulletin states to call prior to the birth of the baby so I called today and was told that we did not live within the parish borders, and they prefer that we go to our residing church. I am very disappointed because I am not comfortable with the local church. Anyone have a similar experience? Is there something else we can do?

Sorry so long...TIA!

I would say to become parishioners of the church and then they have to baptize the baby. The only thing is there will be a fee for the membership and depending on the church it could be moderate or fairly hefty. I would contact them to see what it would be. Lots of luck.

Re: NPR: Baptism in Catholic Church

Our church is outside our area and they instructions we were given was to get a letter from the local parish giving us permission to be a member of the other church. I was never registered with the local church either but I guess they wanted it to be proper. After the letter I than registered with that church and baptized my son there.

Thank you for the responses. I did want to register with the other church, but I didn't mention it to them. I will look into it!!
