Janice...Only bc I know your past history...wasnt she very much not a part of ds life at the beginning? That would answer the yes or no question for me.

Absolutely not. I would tell DH that she needs to deal with it on her own. She's capable and has options, therefore, she can figure it out. Wow, I'm annoyed for you!

I'm sorry - but not in a million years.
He has to think about YOUR family now and stop worrying and taking care of his mother. The way I grew up - parents take care of children - and that is the way I will raise Jack. I know that certain circumstances always do happen - but I would never ever want my child to feel that he has to pay for things for me - especially when he has his own family to care for. And, she has other options - she just chooses not to use them.
AND - isn't this the same mother who hasn't seen her grandson in ages if I remember correctly. ETA: I just read your response above - I knew I remember she hasn't even met him --- NO FREAKING WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He says he is not going to fight me on it, he doesn't want to do it either, he feels like he needs to though. I now know to nudge him in the opposite direction.

I didn't see your thread but can get the jist of it.
As you know, I have a VERY similar situation and MIL has NEVER met Steven.
DH didn't want to visit her for fear that she would ask for money. How terrible is that?
