NPR: Christmas shopping......

I am sooo not into it this year! I have NO IDEA what to get ANYONE! Seriously...not a clue!

I got a couple of add in gifts for some ppl and DH got his aunts/uncles/cousins done.

We are mking our big trip to the outlets on the 14th...Usually I get almost everything there, a few catalog items and some side shopping and I am done by the week after Thanksgiving.

I am just at a loss. We have no clue what to get ILs.

Anyone almost done? Want to share ideas? Good deals?? Coupon codes?

Can't help you there. We are limiting to the nieces and nephews and my little sisters and brother. I do AC Moore for the girls and get projects, which they love. And there are 40% off coupons there weekly.

Exactly, I jsut want to be done. I actually was thinking it's prob easier to get as much done online as I can. I am too tired and my back is always hurting to deal with stores and lines.

Hopefully, my trip to the outlets is very sucessfull (it usually is).

Re: NPR: Christmas shopping......

I was just thinking about this too. I think for people at work I am going to either bake something or make some sort of candy and put it in a nice container.

For family members I will probably try to hit up the outlets this year. We are trying to stay on a budget this year, and we haven't had much free time so hopefully we will get it done early enough.

With the baby coming any day now, we're going to have to do most of our shopping online this year. I usually do most of it at the outlets.

Re: NPR: Christmas shopping......

i just started thinking about it.

We know we are getting my brother a new digital camera and we are giving my ILs $ towards a trip to Italy they are hoping to take in April.

SIL we'll probably give her a gift card to NY&Co or Macy's b/c she needs/wants work clothes.

SIL's b/f is so easy too... we usually get him Dickies and an itunes card! lol

BIL is always hard b/c he has EVERYTHING. we usually get him a sweater or top from Banana with a gift card.

for my dad I have no clue! i may buy him a ticket to visit his family in Puerto Rico this summer before he starts his new job. its the only thing i can think he would want.

since Chat Icon is due 2 days before christmas and we won't be making our usual trip... we decided that we'll just be sending gift baskets to my parents, his parents, and our siblings.

Still trying to decide on where to get them from though!

Re: NPR: Christmas shopping......

This is the reason why my family started a secret santa 2 years ago. So we all pick a name out of a hat, and we only have to buy for 1 person. The first year, there was a limit of $100, the second year, we brought it down to $75. Much easier buying for 1 person and not 8 (plus no one ever knows what they want, and that times 8 makes it annoying to shop).

We are doing the same thing, it literally has cut down the amount of people having to buy a present for from 12 to 1. At first I wasn't sure but it has been great so far Chat Icon

Re: NPR: Christmas shopping......

I am only buying for my husband this year since my Chat Icon is due New Years eve and we live far from any family. It is so nice to have a break from buying gifts. Nice for the check book as well.

Re: NPR: Christmas shopping......

I'm in the same boat as you guys. We have set a price limit on everybody so it'll have to be a creative Chriistams for us. I'm getting Joe a bunch of Green Bay Packers stuff and his usual stocking stuffers, but we have cut way down on eachother this year. For family I really don't know. I'm thinking some hockey tickets for my brother( we have a local team that's below the NHL so the tickets are reasonable) a LL Bean breakfast gift basket for my parents, Bath and Body for my sisters and so on......we capped everybody at $20 a piece. Some family members have asked to not do gifts and so we'll just have a nice meal with them so that makes it much easier also.

Re: NPR: Christmas shopping......

I just started picking up things here and there.......b/c money will be tight

I got two plates from Pampered Chef that are so cute for entertaining, I haven't decided who to give those to yet.

Lia Sophia jewelry b/c I hosted a party & yes, I did use some of my "free" jewelry purchase towards christmas gifts....I don't think that makes me cheap, does it? haha

I was on personalizationmall.com the other day b/c all ornaments were 40% off, so I got 8 ornaments personalized for friends & a few family members.

I'm on the hunt for my nephew for some mickey playhouse item, I have to ask my sister again what it is.

I'm going to try making homemade things this year. Like the thread on food and recipes

I'm making my friend a cookbook b/c she's constantly asking me for recipes, so if I make one, I might just make one all fo rmy girls along with there ornaments

as far as parents go-- something baby related. My sister & I were thinking of getting pictures done of my baby and my nephew together. OR I was thinking of getting a GC for them for us all to get a family portrait

In-laws- clueless!!! Something obviously baby related but then I have no idea

Re: NPR: Christmas shopping......

I've been scouring the internet and racking my brain..I'm just clueless!

And I love Christmas and I'm usually so good at this.

The ILs- I am leaving up to DH. Two years ago we got them a $250 GC to ticketmaster bc they were dying to see Grease and couldn't give me avaialable dates. I got the GC and told them they could get tix whenever they wanted. Guess what, grease has now gone off broadway, they never saw and the GC loses value! Thanks. THen last year we got them a Keurig Mini/Travel Coffee pot. They have the regular and love it and they do road trips alot and always took the big one with them. Well, all of the sudden it's not convenient to take a coffee pot, so it's still in the box! Thanks again.

So, he can decide what to get them that won't be too big of a waste of money.

I will get all the kids in my family somethign at the outlets. My parents, bro & sis, I won't have a probelm with.

IT's the aunts, uncles & cousins I have no clue on! I will just have to keep my eyes open more.

Re: NPR: Christmas shopping......

I am more then halfway done! Whoo HOo to me!

Usually I wait until the week before christmas butI shop for about 25 people. I really wish we could do a secret santa thing but I don't know how to start it the family is too spread out.

Anyhow,
I bought lots of clothes at Kohls when they had the cash back deal and used some coupons.( Fleece pj pants, zipper robes, button downs, thermals).
I went to the Lake Grove grandopening of Toys r Us and got all the kids done with toys and games.
I now have 60 bucks in store credits and I have about 6 people shop for.

This year so far has been all luck when it comes to sales.Chat Icon
