NPR: Just cooked DH an awesome dinner
I decided to make my own homemade sauce tonight which I don't really do. The only time I make homemade sauce is when I use DH's grandma's recipe and that takes at least 4 hours.
Instead I made my own, and it tasted great!! DH loved it, and we have SOOO many leftovers!
I also made turkey meatballs, spaghetti, broccoli, and served it with italian bread.
I think the baby liked it too!

that's great!
Would you mind sharing your sauce recipe? If it's a secret, I understand.

Nah, it's not a secret
All I did was coat the bottom of the pot with olive oil, I then threw in 1/2 a chopped sweet onion, and 4 crushed garlic cloves
I let that heat up for a bit, then threw in 2 cans of crushed tomatoes, stir
then added lots of basil (I used dried, that's all I had), and some sprinkles of garlic powder, parsley, oregano, onion powder, crushed red pepper (not too much), sea salt, a little sugar, and black pepper.
Then I let it simmer....then mixed in about 3tbsp tomato puree
I let it simmer for a while while I made the meatballs. I cooked the meatballs on a frying pan, then when they were almost fully cooked I transferred them into the sauce and let it simmer some more.
overall it probably took about 1.5 hours of simmering while I was doing other things.
Hope that helps!
