NPR: My back surgery is DONE!!!!
Some of you already know my story, but for those who don't: When I was about 10 weeks pregnant, I ruptured a disc in my lower back. Because of the pregnancy, surgery was not an option and I had to "suck it up". It was more pain than I have ever fathomed possible.
Well this morning, exactly 5 weeks after my c-section, I had a Micro Endoscopic Discectomy to remove the ruptured portion of the disc.
I didn't remember what it was like NOT to have crippling sciatica. I am very sore from the surgery itself, but I stood up an hour after the procedure and actually SOBBED. The pain is 100% GONE.
I want to thank all of you who allowed me to complain and moan for all these months. I am not out of the woods yet--my recovery will take approximately 3 months, but I am optimistic that this will finally bring me some long-term relief.
