Re: npr: Quick $ question

i dont know. i mean, she still has to pay for you, even though youre invited in order to fill the minimum; i would still give what i would give for a friend who invited me regardless of the reasoning. if this makes sense. Chat Icon

yes definitely. they still have to pay for you to be there, like i said. i would feel guilty not giving a gift or giving one so cheap. it's up to you and what your financial situation is though so i dont know thats just me,.

Re: npr: Quick $ question

I wouldn't give the same amount you would give to a close friend, but definitely would give something.

Re: npr: Quick $ question

Crashing from TTC
We invited someone literally the week of b/c of a cancellation. It was one of my dad's coworkers and my dad made it adamant to him not to bring a gift. He took a lot of pictures and made us a nice album that he gave us after. I guess I'm in the minority, but if I invited someone last minute I would not expect a gift at all.

ETA: If I was invited last minute, I would probably pick up a gift card around anywhere from 50-100, maybe to a restaurant so it's something different.

Re: npr: Quick $ question

She has to pay for you whether you are there or not - that's why it's called a minimum. Chat Icon Give whatever you are comfortable with, if you're not close and you want to give less, that's perfectly okay Chat Icon

Re: npr: Quick $ question

I would give something small, they're dishing out that money anyway.

Maybe monogrammed towels or a GC for a restaurant or maybe look up their registry and get something that is left on their list?

Re: npr: Quick $ question

I would give $100- I mean at this point any $ is better than nothing since she is stuck paying for the plates no matter what. There is no way I would give the $350- $400 that I usually give people who get married around here (so I can try and "pay for our plates" and then some).

I had a 200 person minimum at my wedding and 220 yes responses. The day of I had TEN no shows!!! (Like 2 had a good emergency reason but the rest just $ucked) It ATE me up that I paid for those people since I was already past my minimum and my hall had a very lenient policy about changing the number of people up until the DAY BEFORE- so if those people had been a liiiittttle more courteous I could have saved a bunch of cash.

But anyway, I digress, lol, I'm still mad- my point is that if I had time to invite fillers from LIW who wanted to check out my hall or whatever I would have been happy with a $20 gift certificate from Red Lobster, lol b/c otherwise it is a TOTAL loss.
