Please let us know how your waxes goes. I have been afraid to go since my BFP. It hurts like hell now to have my eyebrows done. I am too scared to go.

Re: NPR: Recommend your salon and spa
Odete at New Beginnings Salon (142 Balsam Lane, in Levittown, 516-409-5874) is the only one I would ever trust with a braziliian during pregnancy. She uses high end waxes and uses a European technique w/o the strips, that, imo, hurts a lot less.

imo very reasonable, 55 for a full Brazilian
ETA: she does an amazing spa mani/pedi if you're looking to treat yourself. There are hairdressers on staff, but I'm not a fan, except for Sara she's very patient if you're patient, but what I love about her is that she's the best colorist I've ever come across. I only color every now and then, I don't have grays.
I live in brooklyn, so for these occasional treatments its totally worth the trip and price to me. I wouldn't get the same quality for that price the closer to the city I go.

Its different for everyone, and it also depends how often you've been doing it. The more often you do it, the slower it grows back and the softer and finer the hair will be.
For me, the first time was one step better than shaving, because i get horrible ingrowns and rashes from the prickly hair after I shave. After the first wax it was a dream to have only one ingrown.
After about 3 waxes the hair is soft and not at all prickly. The skin feels better now too because its not irritated by the hair.
In the begining I was very squeamish and scared, but the last place I go to now, makes me feel so comfortable, its not an issue for me anymore.
