NPR: Teaching a grade one's NOT certified for?

NPR: Teaching a grade one's NOT certified for?
Is it possible to be assigned to teach a grade if you are NOT certified to teach that grade??
For instance, having 7-12 certification, and being assigned a 6th grade class?

Hey G - (It's K - changed my name on here)...but yes you can teach ONE class outside of your certification area. They do it with almost everyone in our school!

ITA with PP. You can teach one class out of certification.
When I got my first SS job, they told me that I might have to teach AP Chem!! W TF? Thankfully they split a class and I had a full schedule.

OMG that's nutso!!!! at least my split is still in the same subject area LOL...I can't imagine if i had to teach science, or SS...

Ugh - I went from teaching all science for the past few years to now teaching one science and all the rest reading to 8th grade! Oh well..I'll only be there about 2 months anyway..LOL.
