NSLIJ Is it just me?
I don't get it. I've read through the posts here on NSLIJ about how happy everyone is. My experience has been less positive. I've met all the REs, but have had the most contact with Dr. Cohen, Dr. Scholl, and Dr. Rosenfeld.
Dr. Cohen is so uncomfortable in his own skin. He can't even use the word "sex" (he says "relations" instead) and is oddly avoidant of sensitive topics, such as male factor. He doesn't wear a yalmulkah, but I wonder if he is orthodox. There is always a very long wait for him...sometimes more than an hour and he is rarely apologetic. If you have nothing but time and have no male issues, I guess he'd be alright.
Dr. Scholl is nice, although he's always in a rush. I guess that's why there are no waits when I see him. Medically, he is super conservative, but he's definitely a caring, concerned doctor.
Dr. Rosenfeld nice? I guess, if you don't mind the fact that he loves to hear himself talk, is super arrogant, and can't be bothered to answer questions if he isn't your RE. Also, he did an IUI for me once, and it was the most aggressive speculum insertion I've ever experienced. It was almost as if he was having a bad day and in a very angry mood. I've never experienced anything like this and I'm not new to IUIs or PAPs. Some of the nurses who work with him mentioned that he can be quite moody and I believe it.
All in all, I keep going there, because they take my insurance and seem reasonably competent, although they lack in thoroughness. There is definitely a factory feel to the treatment. Once my insurance runs out, I'll be looking elsewhere.
Sorry if I offended anyone, but I want to give another perspective for those that are comparing clinics and REs.

I don't go there but I'm sorry you don't love it there - maybe some others on the infertility board will have other suggestions if you are looking for someone new. I know how frustrating it can be if you don't love your dr. Lots of to you!

Re: NSLIJ Is it just me?
I had a bad experience at NSUH. Other people had great experiences.
Check out the IF board and see who other people suggest

Do you mind if I ask what happened? I've been going there for a while now. I'm in my mid-30s, so don't want to keep wasting time, but I can't switch because of insurance coverage.

Re: NSLIJ Is it just me?
sorry you had a bad experience. Its important to be comfortable with your Dr.
I went to NSUH for testing (I conceived on my own twice). I LOVE the clinic. Yes, the clinic uses the term relations. I have no issues with that. Dr. Rosenfeld did all of my testing. I have the complete opposite impression that you do. He is no nonsense. He does not blow sunshine up your *** or promise your the word (I am NOT implying that is what you are looking for). He give you the facts and just the facts. That is what I loved about him.
Good luck its an emotional journey and find someone you and your husband click with.

I have honestly heard mixed reviews. I have had my own experiences there. I will not say which way just incase someone is lurking. You never know.

Who would be lurking and why isn't it OK to post your opinion?

Re: NSLIJ Is it just me?
I find you hit the nail on the head with all of them, although when push came to shove and I had hard times, they were ALL caring, even Dr. Rosenfeld who didnt even want me to do IVF ( my son proved him wrong)...
Dr. Chu was my main Dr and I have recently referred DH's Aunt to him and she loves her. I found her to be an amazing Dr. DH's Aunt mentioned my name and 28 months later she knew who I was and my SONS name. Thats a good dr to me.
I also felt the Nurses knew me well and cared and so I stayed.
Fromt he clinics I had been to previously...OMG, there is no comparision.
After 11 months at one, NOT ONE of the Dr's knew who I was or what I was doing before reviewing my chart before going in.
