NST and BPP
When did you guys all start getting your Non-Stress Tests and Bio-Physical Profiles?
Also, how frequently did you get them?
I have my first on monday, at 34 weeks pregnant. I'll be getting them once a week. I'm not sure if that is usual or if it's beacuse I have GD and they want to keep an eye on the baby's size.

Re: NST and BPP
I don't think they are standard.
I only started having the NST because my BP has been staying high so I go twice a week and get on every time.
I had one BPP at 35 weeks to make sure fluid was OK and that the baby was growing well.

Re: NST and BPP
I don't think its the norm either, I'm having twins, so I'm starting to go every 2 weeks, for a biophysical and a non stress test. It probably has to do with the your GD.

Re: NST and BPP
I go for NSTs once a week due to elevated blood pressure from 31 weeks. I had a BPP that week and will have another NST and BPP on Tuesday.

Re: NST and BPP
A non-stress test is where they hook the baby up to the fetal monitor for 20-30 minutes and get printouts of the baby's heart activity.
A biophysical profile is basically a sonogram where they are mostly checking for size, position, and in some cases lung/heart activity to see (in my case at least) if the baby is strong enough to be delivered.
I guess they are doing this because of my GD. I know I haven't had high blood pressure so that's the only reason I can think of. My last visit my BP was 110/68 and it's usually around there so nothing to worry about. However, at 29 weeks the baby measured 3 lbs 11 oz so I guess they want to see if I can have the baby early?? I know the doctor really wants me to have a vag delivery instead of a c-section beacuse I'm heavy, so we don't watn the baby to get too big. Who knows! I'll ask more questions on monday!!!
