NT sono statistics-long
When I had my NT sono at 12-weeks, the Dr. had reviewed the sono and said that they would have suggested I go for a fetal echocardiogram at ~20 weeks due to some of the numbers, but I already had to have one because I have a heart condition that I'm monitored for. The Dr. did not seem worried, and told me not to worry, it was routine, etc. My DH was with me then and he got the same feelings from the Dr. Then, when I called the other office to schedule the fetal echo, the nurse said they do them all the time, it's just precautionary that the Dr. would want one based on the NT sono (but I needed one anyway, like I said) But I never fully understood what raised the flag from the NT sono, since the numbers that came back a few weeks later from the blood test were "within normal range". But I never got any specific #s, the nurse said they don't give them out.
But tonight at our 16-week appointment, we had another Dr. in the practice who I really like, and I asked him for further explaination of the last results. He said he wasn't concerned at all, the echo was just to be safe. He did say that my Downs odds were 1:720. Now, I've looked at previous posts, and a lot of you girls got 1:10,000 or at least in the thousands. So, now I'm worried about that. Again, he reassured me that he's sure everything is fine, that the number that is 'of concern' is 1:350 and that I am more than double that, that he would love those odds if he was betting.
My question is: have any of you gotten similar odds like that?
I am going for the AFP blood testing this week, and we scheduled the Level II for 4 weeks, so I'm just wondering if anyone has had similar ratios?
