numbness in hand and fingers
Hi Ladies. Was just wondering if anyone else has has this problem or if its not pregnancy related... I will be 39 weeks on Thurs. The last few weeks when I wake up in the AM my whole arm and hand/fingers is numb and stiff. As the day goes on, it loosens but the tips of the fingers stay numb with like a pins and needles feeling in them. not sure if I am sleeping with too much weight on my arm now? or if the baby could be laying on something causing this? or if it isnt even pregnancy related to begin with? TIA! Dawn :)

I have this too, just for the last two weeks of the pregnancy. I'm 40 weeks now. My Dr. says that it is normal and it is due to swelling. It is some form of carpal tunnel that will go away after giving birth. it's annoying, but I guess we have to live with it.

phew..makes me feel better to know others have this too - its kind of scary waking up one morning and having numb fingers! I hope it goes away after I give birth. One of my fingers tips is so numb that if someone were to prick it to take bloodor whatever, I wouldnt feel it.

Re: numbness in hand and fingers
I had it for half of my pregnancy. It is pregnancy induced carpul tunnel. Mine started between 15 and 20 weeks. I had to wear carpul tunnel braces on my wrists at night, it got so bad that my right had was pretty much numb most of the time. It did start going away about 3 weeks after I had the baby.

dawn! me too! only it's not really numbness, it downright hurts! it's like i have arthritis in my hands, i can barely type and it hurts to make a fist or pick something up. my mom said she had the same thing, and she got tendonitis in her wrists as well. guess it's just a common thing w/ pg

Re: numbness in hand and fingers
I had this my first pregnancy from the 2nd trimester on. It is a form of carpal tunnel and went away right after he was born.
