Nursemaid's elbow - Its more common than I thought.
2 days ago - we took Julia to the emergency room because she was in incruciating pain! She wasn't moving the right side of her body and arm, unable to pick herself up from the flloor, or eat, we couldn't even dress her because she was in tears. We were in tears watching her - couldn't figure out what in the world was going on with her.
We rushed her to the emergency room on Wednesday morning, they took x-rays and discovered that her elbow ligaments, bone were out of place. As soon as the doctor poped that bone back in - she was mobile again - moving her fingers, walking......what a scare she gave us.
Apparently this could happen from pulling your child's arms when they are walking, swinging them by their arms, it could of even happened when she was playing, if she fell over - we have no idea - but apparently now I hear that its so common and has happened to many children ages 6 months to 4 years (sometimes younger). Just wanted to pass along what the symptoms of this are just in case it could happen to your child - which i hope never happens! Luckily her recovery was instint.

This happened to my niece repeatedly. After the second time, the ped. showed my sister in law how to pop it back in herself.

Re: Nursemaid's elbow - Its more common than I thought.
this happened to my nephew when he was 1 1/2, my SIL was watching him and her freinds 11 year old daughter took him for a walk and i guess was holding his hand and he fell and she yanked his arm to pull him up and his elbow popped out of the joint, i felt so bad, he was so uncomfortable, we took him to the hospital so they could pop it back in
