Re: Nursery schools in the Northport/EN/Greenlawn area
We've used:
Wee Luv Em but I understand from speaking to moms there, it's gone downhill tremendously. I do love the staff there when my kids went. It's only closed Federal holidays which is a huge plus.
Kiddie Academy in Greenlawn: Good staff, love the director. They do have some staff turnover.
As for ones I've only heard about: Village Pre-school - I've heard nothing but the best about this school
St. Paul's - again all praises.
Island Kids: My friend is switching her kids out. They also follow the school calendar so they're closed probably more than most pre-schools.

Re: Nursery schools in the Northport/EN/Greenlawn area
magic circle in east northport!!!!
its a co-op (cooperative) so if you can, you (the parent or grandparent, ect) can participate a few times a month. you save money and get to watch DC interact with everyone.
i've heard good things about weekday in Npt, but they don't have a 2 year old program so it doesn't work for us.
the library will also have a list of schools in the area!

Re: Nursery schools in the Northport/EN/Greenlawn area
My DS is 2 1/2. He now attends Northport Nursery Co-op 1 day a week with me for a "Mommy and Me". I would have sent him there in September for the 3 year old program, but I am going back to work and needed a day care. Excellent school.
He also goes 2 mornings a week to Island Kids. I picked it because they have regular pre-school as well as day care. He is on the pre-school side now, but when I go back to work, we will send him across the hall to a daycare room. I really like it there. The daycare side has a regular schedule of days off, like any other day care, but the pre-school rooms follow a public school schedule. They also offer extended day pre-school-9 till 2pm.
I really like both.

Northport Nursery School I hear good things about Weekday, Island Kids and there's a Tutor Time, but, it's more of a day care.

Not yet. I'm still going to look at Magic Circle and a new place in Northport Village. A couple of places were already full. I'm considering waiting until next year.

Re: Nursery schools in the Northport/EN/Greenlawn area
I live in Greenlawn, but travel to Commack for DD's daycare. JKL Montessori School. It is just past the Mayfair Shopping Center on Jericho Turnpike. It is my SIL's mother's place, which is why I went there first and I have been nothing but pleased. they have had the same consistent staff members for years and they go from infants to kindergarten. (this year, it's 1 baby room, 1 toddler room and 2 pre-k rooms). they accept part-timers, if that's all you need.
