Nursing Programs?
Do we have any Nurses?
What schools offer good programs on LI?
Im looking into this as "maybe " a possibilty. I withdrew from fall classes to decide if I really want to do it. Im currently in the Masters program at Adelphi for School psychology. I was told that some of my AA classes from Suffolk would transfer to a SUNY nursing program( like psych 101, math , just a few but it helps) ..
I have a 4.0 and graduated Suffolk in the honors program, and am in the Honors Society at Adelphi so I think I could get accepted to some of the better Nursing programs( at least I hope) ..
looking for suggestions to look into..
THANKS

WOW! SB is way too far for me though and I doubt I can do accelerated with work 10 hours a day
I am looking into Farmingdale but everyone tells me NAssau has a very good competitive program?

Re: Nursing Programs?
Nassau's program is really competitive and highly respected. So many people say 'oh, nassau'? but its so underrated. I have friends who took out ALOT of $$$ in loans to go to private schools (like Adelphi, etc...), and they wish they had saved the money and gone to nassau. the only difference is that they have the BSN, but both are RN programs. and once youre working for a hospital, they pay for you to go back to school pretty much for as long as you want (BSN, masters, etc).

Re: Nursing Programs?
also, Farmingdales program is still pretty new, so Nassau's is probably a little more selective, but Farmingdale has a really good program too.

Re: Nursing Programs?
i was just about to write- i'm not applying until the spring for the program... i had to have anatomy/ physiology 1 done before i could apply (i had all the other pre-reqs), so im taking 1 in the fall and part 2 in the spring, and applying for the program in the spring.
ill probably apply to farmingdale too, just to be safe, but i like 2 minutes from NCC, so i really want to go there. with Your GPA though- i dont think you have anything to worry about.

I would need those classes too. Thanks for helping, I will have to look into it. I could take a class maybe in the fall now...If I hurry up.
Its SOOO hard to get info from them....I have to look online....
Farmingdale is 2 minutes from my job so I was looking there first because its easy to go to, plus they now have like 4 of their classes in the nursing program online..which is a bonus.

My mom worked at Farmingdale and their program is for the AS in nursing to sit for the RM exam. Prereqs for transfers are: BIO 170, Human Anatomy & Physiology I BIO 171, Human Anatomy & Physiology II EGL 101, English Composition: Rhetoric PSY 101, Introduction to Psychology. All the programs are pretty competitive now so I wouldn't worry about Nassau over Farmingdale, etc. Stony Brook is the only one I know of with the accelerated post-Bac. program.

i think they both have the same requirements.... i just think that *maybe* less apply for farmingdale just based on not knowing about it. I just want to do it at Nassau b/c its closer, and im lazy but i think w/ the online courses- i thought that was just for continuing nurses?? (not the intro courses?)
