Nuva Ring & BC -XPost
OK so my 6 week PP exam was 2 weeks ago and I was offered BC. I haven't taken it for years and to be honest I was overwhelmed at the many kinds to choose from. I decided to go with Nuva Ring since it seemed easy enought and most importantly I was told there were very minimal side effects and hormonal changes. WELL, ever since I started it... I have been over the top with sadness, depression, anger... I am picking on DH every SINGLE day. We are fighting daily (not that we haven't had reason to here and there) but I just won't let it go and I feel terrible. I cry and just feel so depressed. I am fine with the baby but overall I am so upset. I have to assume this is from the BC becuase I was fine before this. Has anyone else tried it and have you had the same side effects? I am thinking of getting off of it permanantly but I am so worried about trying something else since this onehad the lowest hormonal side effects, I am afraid to try anything else. DH and I would like to wait at least a yr. before trying for another.... Any feedback would be great! TIA

I haven't used Nuva Ring, but everyone has different reactions to different BC... I was a crazy, emotional mess when on Ortho-tricyclen, but other people have no problem with it... I would try another method of BC and go from there.. I had good luck with the patch.

Re: Nuva Ring & BC -XPost
BC is terrible for me....I have been on at least 5 different kinds....all made me feel emotional & I in general just never felt "right" on it...
I finally decided no more as off Decemeber since I would like to TTC this coming summer anyhow.
BUT...all that being said, I found the pill "Yasmin" was the least offensive to my body & hormones.

Re: Nuva Ring & BC -XPost
I've been on NuvaRing for the last year and a half..the first month was brutal with my emotions but I haven't had any hormonal issues since then.

Re: Nuva Ring & BC -XPost
I used Nuvaring and after the patch and I loved it! It had less hormones than the rest so it really didnt affect me differently and I loved how in one day there, 28 days later out
Something I will consider going back on.

I'm on the ring and haven't noticed any difference, but then again I've been on BC forever

BC is usually pretty brutal on my emotions as well...I'm very sensitive to the hormones...I didn't start it yet but my dr just gave me Loestrin, so hopefully that will be better for me

Re: Nuva Ring & BC -XPost
i have friends who swear by the IUD.. I dont know, something about the thougth of the "insertion" gives me the creeps! But no side effects whatsoever, and it lasts for 10 yrs(you could take it out before that if you're ttc)
I felt the same way after both my pregnancies- i wouldnt call it post-pardum, because it started about 2 months after I gave birth. But I was an emotional wreck, crying & sad for no reason.... my DH couldnt even walk thru the door the right way... I tortured him-lol! I didnt feel "right" for about 2 months, but then it just went away. THe Drs told me that it takes a year for your hormones to get back to normal.

I was very emotional on BC pills, but am fine with NuvaRing...except my periods became so light they were hardly there.

Re: Nuva Ring & BC -XPost
I used the Nuva Ring as my first form of BC post partum. I loved the convenience of it but I was a raging beyotch on it and it killed my sex drive. Also messed with my cycle. So I stopped, then tried again after a few months break. Again, the sex drive factor. Went off it for 6 months.
DH was against the IUD since we want another and he is concerned about inserting a foreign object in there.
So I'm about to go BACK on the ring for a third try. After this, it's back to the pill I guess... even though I don't trust myself on it. Until we are ready to TTC #2 then it's definitely IUD time.

it killed my sex drive.
My gyno keeps insisting it has nothing to do with it, and says it's all in my head.
