NY malls can't open without air conditioning systems that can filter Coronavirus
That's all well and good, but who is paying for this? I really don't get his logic sometimes. Indoor dining in 90% of the state- safe. Indoor dining in NYC- not safe. Yet NYC numbers are just as low, if not lower than some upstate regions. Kohl's & Target- their AC won't spread COVID, but malls- super spread. Where is this man's mind??

Nothing makes sense. It's all random. Why don't supermarkets or Target need this AC system? Restaurants? Offices? Why just malls?

I don’t know if I agree with this... I work in a hospital and wear a mask in my office. My office is just under a covid ICU unit... I haven’t gotten Covid... so as much as I’m for precautions and I’m extremely cautious I think this is BS

I would guess it's at least in part because of the sheer number of people. Also, he is supposedly consulting with global experts in the field of infectious disease etc., so I trust that there is some rationale. Just because you don't understand doesn't mean it's necessarily BS.

I wasn't the one who said it was BS. It was the poster above this. I said it didn't make sense and seemed random. And just because Cuomo declares something doesn't make it automatically right and infallible. He's not God regardless of the fact that he thinks of himself as such.

Weird. And the masks protect us all, remember? So why can the masks protect us in an air conditioned, super crowded Kohl's store, but not in a mall?

I used to work at Smithaven and cant tell you how many times the a/c broke. One time one of the ducts or something cracked and water was pouring out of the light fixtures. So an upgrade wouldn't hurt lol. It also crapped out all the time. I think the reasoning behind this is indoor malls all have one system so the air is circulated throughout whereas strip malls and places like tanger, the stores all have their own individual units. We had hepa filters

I think the difference is that people are more likely to congregate in malls. Supermarkets/Target are food stores, so while it wasn’t ideal to be going there, it was deemed essential. Restaurants and offices - it’s much easier to maintain social distancing and to “control” where masks are worn. Malls are a big free for all - very difficult to enforce mask wearing and to prevent groups from going there to hang out together
