NYC Moving company needed.
Hi I need to hire a moving company that will go to an apartment in NYC and pack up and move the entire contents to Florida.
Any recommendations?
TIA

Re: NYC Moving company needed.
I have used two moving companies one to take me from NY to NJ - Collins Brother's and the other a local NJ move - Palmieri Movers.
I can confidently say that I was pleased with both movers and both experiences.
Things I would do: 1. Take all of your important papers yourself 2. Take your toiletries 3. Take some clothing 4. Take anything of significant value that is irreplaceable.
Even though they all offer the basic insurance, I would pay the extra fee for the additional insurance.
Have someone come out to your home and give you an estimate. And when they tell you X boxes for closets have them add in a few extra before they give you a quote.

NYC Moving company needed.
Its CRITICAL you go with a company that people have used and have not had a problem with (As we have JUST seen on the home board).

Re: NYC Moving company needed.
I used Dumbo moving last month from my move from long island to SC. I dealt solely with Mike. They were reasonably priced on time very very helpful. They will pack and move everything but of you are like me and super paranoid I would suggest packing everything yourself and take a photo inventory and number the boxes. With all moving companies give an almost accurate description of ur move as possible to avoid last minute overage fees.

Agreed. I just used a company mentioned on here and I do NOT recommend them.

I have had two good experiences with Liffey. We did not move out of state, but it was a somewhat complicated move, with some things going into storage and others going to a temporary location, and finally everything into our new home. Nothing was lost or broken. I was pleased overall.

Big John's. We used them for 3 moves and they were always excellent, and I've recommended them as well.

I also used Big John's when I moved from Manhattan to LI. It was in early 2009, so awhile ago, but they did a great job. We had a 5 week old when we moved, and it was literally the least stressful move we've ever had!

Re: NYC Moving company needed.
We used Imperial Movers last year. We were very happy with them and they charge a flat rate. If we had paid an hourly rate, the move would have cost us triple what we paid.
