Can anyone recommend a good restaurant in the city...somewhere where we can get dressed up and have a great birthday dinner. I love italian but open to anything except fish. Thanks a bunch!

Re: NYC restaurant suggestions
any particular area? theres nino's and campagnola on the upper east side which i love but are on the pricey side. vento in the meatpacking district isnt too pricey and is fun.
ETA: becco is amazing and cheap. thats in the time square area.

One if by land, two if by sea. It is in the village. Actually, Aaron Burr lived there in the 1800's.
Very expensive, but delicious American food.

zagat's has it as $54 for nino's and $59 for campagnola (thats pp for app, entree and a drink I think?) compared to becco $42 and vento $47. but it totally depends on what your order, how much you drink etc. becco has a great $22 prix fixe menu - so much food! - and some great cheap wines.
are you taking the train or driving? driving you're prob better off on the east side. times square would be more convenient if youre taking the train.
