NYC restaurant to meet up with a girl friend...
Any suggestions? I'm meeting one of my very best friends in the city next Friday night for dinner. She lives in Chicago, but in town for work. Oh... I'm pregnant so I won't get to enjoy any martini, sushi or seafood place.
Thanks Ladies! Oh, and midtown would be best b/c I'm meeting her at the train station.

there are a lot of good restaurants on restaurant row-
Becco- owned by the lady from that show Lydia's kitchen http://www.becconyc.com/
For people coming into the city- I always love taking them to Carmines- its a classic :)

My go-to places in Midtown are Fig and Olive on 52nd between 5th and Madison and Serafina (there are a bunch of them). I just tried Artisanal on 32 and Park and thought it was great! Josies on 37th and 3rd is my local favorite. Are you looking for anything in particular?

No, anything with a fun atmosphere and we can still talk. We both lived together in Hoboken for a few years and then she moved to Chicago and I moved to LI with my then fiance at the time and now DH. We've been to Carmines and some other places in the city. I'll go and luck up the places you recommended. Thanks

Rosa Mexicana by Lincoln Center-is that too far-I know there are other locations. I also love Cinema Cafe on 34th and 3rd-great food and they play silent movies in the background.
