NYC Resteraunt Recommendations for Birthday Dinner
Saturday night we are going to dinner in the city for my birthday with two other couples. I can't really decide where I want to go. Any suggestions?
Tentatively we have reservations at Tao. I know the food is good and the decor is amazing, but it is LOUD.
TIA

Both places are great....but it's a little hard to find a quieter restaurant in the city IMO
Tribeca Grill is good, Asia D Cuba Blue water Grill
One if by land 2 if by sea is a nice romantic quiet setting...but sometimes hard to get a reservation.
Where in the city would you like to go? And what type of food?

Gotham Bar and Grill is AMAZING!!!! Pricey, but AMAZING!! Its certainly not quiet, but definitely not loud like Tao. Mesa Grill is also great- but it can get loud (its a little small).
Tribeca Grill is a great choice.

I took DH there for his birthday right before we started dating (we'd been friends for YEARS) b/c I was trying to get things started.
I saw something on TV a while ago on NYC restaurants and they said there are more proposals here than anywhere else in the city.

Candella in Union Square is great. Scalintella is also really good, it's near Bloomies.

Re: NYC Resteraunt Recommendations for Birthday Dinner
Thanks ladies. I have never been to One if by Land, Two if by Sea, however not Sat night. I don't think a romantic dinner with my sister, cousins, and some friends is the idea - LOL.
We are looking for something fun, but cool, semi-trendy - but not too much of a scene.
My sister has a friend who can get us in anywhere in the Meatpacking district, so that is a possibility too. Anyone been to Lotus or the Spice Market?

Re: NYC Resteraunt Recommendations for Birthday Dinner
Caviar & Banana!!! It's AMAZING. It's where the old Rocco Dispirito restaurant is and it's run by China Grill Management (same people as Asia de Cuba, which is also amazing but I think it'd be impossible for you to get a reservation there now for Saturday). It's so much fun, great great atmosphere, incredible food. Pricey, of course, but sooooo worth it for a 'special' event like a birthday (DH and I went for Valentine's day this year).
Here's a review of it.
