NYC runners! THIS WEATHER
I am beginning to get very nervous about the high paced winds we are expecting. ANy tips on running against such winds would be very appriciated.

Directly from my coach:
Looking ahead at the weather it has improved in that there seems to now be some cloud cover. However there is forecast to be strongish winds blowing from the N / NW. This can make your run up through BK and up First Avenue harder than anticipated.
Don't freak out about the weather - there is nothing you can do about it. Remember: control everything you can, and don't worry about the rest.
So, race smart and DRAFT. Jump in behind a runner or runners that are going about your pace and stay out of the wind by putting the runners between you and the direction the wind is coming from. Be warned, that you should still run your planned pace and do not get sucked into going faster to keep up with your draft. The danger is that the effort might be considerably less for you to maintain your goal pace and you may get lulled into a false sense of ability. As always, stick to your race plan!

Thank you. Last year was pretty windy too. I've calmed down. I just needed reassurance.
